The Piccolo Kitchen: Choola
Join us in the Piccolo kitchen this summer for cooking demonstrations, discussions and workshops from the best of the Scotland's culinary scene. Hosted by Sarah Rankin.
Winners of both the Scottish & British Street Food Awards in 2023, Choola brings a taste of Nepal to the streets of Scotland, combining tradition with a modern twist on authentic Nepalese street food favourites.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Ameer & Nicole, their vision is to showcase and celebrate the amazing flavours, street food and home favourites that Ameer loved growing up in Eastern Nepal.
With his love of food and cooking, learned from watching his mum and aunties, Ameer has worked as a chef in a number of different restaurants.
However, over the years he realised that his true passion was the food that he grew up with, and so he set out to build something of his own. And with Nicole quitting her job in marketing to join the adventure, Choola was born!
After couple of years of travelling around the country in their wee blue trailer, the business has recently moved into a semi-permanent location at the new street food market, The Pitt, in North Edinburgh.
There you’ll find them serving up Nepalese street food classics such as Momos (dumplings), to family home favourites, all with Ameer’s own twist, as they showcase a delicious variety of seasonal homemade Nepalese dishes, while also championing local produce and supporting local causes.
You may have even seen them on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen, cooking up their award-winning Buffalo curry!
You will be taken to our producing partner Assembly Festival to book your tickets.
